Our annual Gingerbread Night was last night. With traditions also come change - and this year for the first time it changed to our house. I told mom that I would take something off of her plate this year and host Gingerbread Night. Buster and his crew could not make it this year. We had been discussing a date since Thanksgiving and it was so hard to find a night that worked for everyone. Hunter and Courtney are so involved with basketball games, cheering, and other high school activities - Joey/Dawn are so involved with musicals and choirs and other rehearsals, Lindsay had to work around Steve's schedule and Bo and I had to work around dance class, PTA nights, meetings, book fair, etc. - it was just next to impossible. So, we had to pick a night for the younger children. We missed Courtney, Whitney and Hunter!
I also invited Maryanne so the girls could have a night to play with Lauren. Mom's friend Pam still came and even SANTA made a surprise visit on our doorstep just to "check" on those kids. We also saw him running through the yard and he even came and tapped on the window in the living room! It was hilarious! Hannah was hiding on her bed! The other kids were ready to go find him outside!
I think it was a successful night. We had lots of good food, wine, the kids tore up - but had a great time! I think I did okay hosting my first night!
